The College at Brockport Softball team dropped two extra inning games on the road Saturday to Geneseo as Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth), Delaney Buckley (Utica, NY/Utica-Notre Dame) and Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) each hit home runs for the Golden Eagles during the 8-7 and 6-5 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) games.

Brockport (9-11, 2-4 SUNYAC) held late inning leads in both contests before Geneseo overcame the Golden Eagle leads in the ninth inning in both contests. Proper sent two balls out of the park, hitting one in each game of the doubleheader.

In game one, Brockport started strong with a two-run home run from Buckley that put the Golden Eagles up two.  Geneseo answered back with four runs to take a 4-2 lead into the third inning.

Senior Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) led off the third inning with a single and stole second.  Junior Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) stepped up to the plate and hit a single to left field, scoring Ferchen to cut the deficit to one.

The Golden Eagles had a strong fifth inning scoring three runs off of three hits.  Ferchen hit another lead-off single and advanced to third on a double from Harris.  With one out and two runners in scoring position, Proper drilled a shot over the left field fence to tie the game at six.

Junior Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) struck out two batters in the bottom of fifth keeping the Knights scoreless.  Buckley singled to lead off the top of the sixth and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Atkins.  Brockport took a one-run lead after Buckley scored on a single from Ferchen.  Geneseo answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning and a scoreless seventh sent the game to extras.

In the top of the ninth Ferchen hit a single with one out and advanced to second on a fielder's choice but was unable to score as the next two batters popped up to end the inning.  In the bottom of the inning, Geneseo got runners on first and second with one out and won the game on a walk-off single.

Ferchen finished the game a perfect five-for-five at the plate with one stolen base.  Buckley went two-for-four with two runs batted in while Harris went two-for-four with one run batted in game one.  Berger struck out eight and walked seven in 8 2/3 innings pitched.

Geneseo jumped out to an early lead in game two behind a three run home run in the first inning of play. The Knights tacked on an additional run in the third inning before Brockport staged a late game rally to send the game into extra innings.

Atkins first put the Golden Eagles on the board with a solo home run in the fifth inning with a shot to left center field before a scoreless sixth left Brockport trailing 4-1.

Proper led the seventh inning off with a home run to trim the Knights lead to 4-2. Lindsay Wachna (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) singled before being pinch ran for by Shannon Allen (Brockport, NY/Brockport). Buckley fouled out to the first baseman prior to Erika Lazzaro (Oswego, NY/Oswego) singled with multiple Geneseo errors allowing Allen to score and Lazzaro to reach third base. The game was tied up and sent to extra innings following Atkins double that plated Lazzaro evening the score at 4-4.

Brockport took the lead in the top of the eighth inning when Proper singled and advanced to third on a single by Wachna before scoring on an error on a ball hit by Buckley. The 5-4 lead would not hold as Geneseo tied it in the bottom of the inning before the Knights scored a run in the ninth to win.

Proper, Wachna and Atkins finished game two with two hits apiece with Atkins leading the way with a couple of runs batted in.
