Box Score The College at Brockport Men's Lacrosse Team dropped a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Saturday afternoon falling to Potsdam 16-7 on the road.  Senior Justin Cook (Endicott, NY/Union Endicott) tallied three goals in the team's second conference loss of the season.
Brockport (7-6 overall, 2-2 SUNYAC) found itself in a two goal deficit six minutes into the game.  The Golden Eagles won the ensuing faceoff and were able to respond less than one minute later as Cook rushed through defenders and scored unassisted.  Less than a minute later Brockport took advantage of a man-up opportunity.  Junior John Countryman (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) found sophomore Max Hill (Victor, NY/Victor) in front of the goal to tie the score at two.
Potsdam (7-5, 3-1) scored six straight goals to take an 8-2 lead.  Two and a half minutes into the second quarter, the Golden Eagles scored two goals twenty-three seconds apart.  Sophomore Jake Giudice (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) caused a turnover and took the ball to the net himself.  Brockport took advantage of their second man-up opportunity of the day as sophomore Brendan Fitzgerald (Baiting Hollow, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) passed the ball to Hill who converted for his second goal of the game to make the score 8-4.
With less than a minute remaining in the first half, Potsdam failed a clear attempt that gave Brockport possession with fifty three seconds left.  Fitzgerald found Countryman in front of the goal to cut Brockport's deficit to four at the half.
The Bears held Brockport scoreless in the third quarter and took a 14-5 lead to start the fourth.  With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Brockport scored their third man-up goal of the game as Cook found the back of the net on a pass from Countryman.  With less than three minutes remaining Cook scored the last goal of the game to make the score 16-7 in Potsdam's favor.
Cook and Hill led the offense with three goals and two goals respectively.  Countryman finished with one goal and two assists while Giudice tallied one goal.  Sophomore Colin Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Giudice each finished with six ground balls.
The Golden Eagles will face the Knight of Geneseo Wednesday in a conference game at Geneseo at 4 pm.
