Box Score Seniors Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) combined for seven points while senior Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) made five saves as The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse sailed to a 26-9 Senior Day victory over State University of New York Athletic Conference opponent Oswego Saturday afternoon in Brockport.
Ten different Golden Eagles scored in the victory as Brockport (8-5 overall, 4-2 SUNYAC) outshot the Lakers 40-15. Brockport caused seven turnovers to the Lakers' three.
Four minutes into the game Brockport itself into a 4-0 deficit but seven straight goals from five different Golden Eagles gave Brockport a 7-4 lead twelve minutes into the game. Brockport was able to score its first three goals after winning three straight draw controls. Junior Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored Brockport's first goal off of a pass from freshman Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas). Boddery tallied the next two goals for the Golden Eagles with Tassone and sophomore Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) each picking up an assist.
Oswego (6-9, 1-6) scored at the 17:23 mark to make it a two goal game but Brockport went on a 6-0 run over the span of four minutes to take a 13-5 lead. Schuber scored off of a free position shot followed by a goal from freshman Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) who drove to the net and took a pass from junior Keeley Rice (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam). Wall and Tassone scored two goals nineteen seconds apart and tallied an assist on each other's goals. Rice picked up an assist on the next two goals from junior Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) and Tassone.
With less than four minutes remaining in the half, Harr made an impressive save off of a free position shot. Tassone raced down the field and scored her third goal of the game which marked her 100th career goal. Tassone is currently one goal shy of her single season high of 33 goals. Schuber and Boddery combined for three goals in the final three minutes of the first half to give Brockport a 17-6 lead at halftime.
Oswego scored three goals in the second half but it wasn't enough as Brockport outscored the Lakers 9-3 to close the game. Hathaway scored her career-high second goal of the season with just less than seven minutes remaining in the game. With just over two minutes remaining in the game, freshman Tess Knight (Lisbon, NY/Canton) drove to the net and scored her first goal as a Golden Eagle.
Eight Golden Eagles tallied multiple points in the game. Rice led the offense with four goals and four assists while Wall tallied three goals, four assists, and two caused turnovers. Schuber recorded five points off of four goals and one assist. Boddery and Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) each finished with three goals and two assists. Zlinsky and McKeon finished with two goals apiece while Hathaway and Knight each finished with one goal. Freshman Taylor Thomas (Cortland, NY/Cortland) picked up one assist.
Brockport's season wraps up next week as they hit the road for two conference games. The Golden Eagles face Geneseo Tuesday at 4 pm and New Paltz Saturday at 1 pm.
