Box Score 2 Korey Kibling (LaFayette, NY/Bishop Ludden) pitched six scoreless innings as the College at Brockport Softball team won the first game of a double header against Nazareth Thursday afternoon at Mercy High School in Brighton.
Brockport (7-7) got the scoring started in the first inning with a double up the middle from
Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) that scored
Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta). In the next inning
Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) launched a homer to left field that extended the Golden Eagles lead to 3-0.
The next two batters hit singles to get two runners in scoring position with one out.
Gabrielle Rivers (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) scored on a sacrifice bunt from Harris. A hard hit single from
Shelby Perry (Brockport, NY/Brockport) scored Ferchen and gave Brockport a 5-0 lead after two innings.
Brockport won the first game 8-0 as Kibling got the win after giving up only three hits and striking out four. Perry finished the first game a perfect four-for-four at the plate with two runs batted in.
To start game two Brockport quickly found itself in a 4-0 deficit after two innings. The Golden Eagles couldn't get their bats going as they only had five hits in the game. A seventh inning rally got the bases loaded with no outs. A fielder's choice kept the bases loaded with one out and a double play ended the game.
Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) gave up six hits and six walks in the loss.
Brockport hosts Cortland in a double header tomorrow starting at 3 pm.
