Box Score

The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team stages several comebacks against State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Geneseo on Tuesday evening, but despite the best efforts of the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome the Knights losing 8-7 to the Number 19 ranked team in the country.

Brockport (8-6, 4-3 SUNYAC) fell behind early in the game as the Knights built a four goal lead a little more than 10 minutes into the action. The Golden Eagles have proven to be resilient this year and would not give up without a fight. Following the four goal deficit, Brockport put together a four goal streak of its own to tie the game for the first of three times during the contest.

Hailey Boronczyk (Syracuse, NY/Corcoran) put Brockport on the board for the first time in the afternoon when she converted a Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) pass into a Golden Eagle score. Brockport added three more goals all unassisted in the span of five minutes as Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) all scored.

The Knights quickly answered back to regain the lead less than 30 seconds after Boddery's goal and added another score to take a 6-4 lead.

Wall assisted on another Golden Eagle score within the last minute of play to put Brockport down only a single score going into halftime when she passed the ball to Schuber who fired the ball by the Geneseo goalie with 42 seconds remaining on the clock.

The score was tied yet again for Brockport less than two minutes into the second half when Wall scored on an assist from Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool). Neither team was able to put the ball past the opponent's goalie for nearly 10 minutes until Geneseo gained the 7-6 lead with less than 20 minutes left to play.

The Golden Eagles tied the game for the third and final time on a score from Boronczyk with the assist being credited to Zlinsky. Geneseo scored less than a minute later but Brockport was unable to neutralize the final score of the game and fell 8-7.

Wall led the team with three points off of one goal and two assists while both Boroncyzk and Schuber scored two goals apiece for Brockport. Five Golden Eagles finished with multiple groundballs with Lauren Mancini (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) leading the way with four while Courtney Szczesniak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) led the way for Brockport with four and three caused turnovers.

Brockport travels to New Paltz on Saturday for a 1 pm SUNYAC showdown in its final regular season game of the year.
