Jaime Berger pitched a complete game shutout against Buffalo State.
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The College at Brockport Softball team came away from Buffalo State with two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) wins behind lights out pitching from Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) and Korey Kibling (LaFayette, NY/Bishop Ludden) as the Golden Eagles held the Bengals to a single run in the two game series.

Berger tossed a complete game shutout in a 2-0 Brockport victory while Kibling completed all seven innings allowing a single earned run in Brockport's 6-1 game one win. Brockport used timely hitting to score its runs and outhit the Bengals 13-8 in the back-to-back games.

Brockport (9-9, 2-2 SUNYAC) did not need much offensive firepower to emerge on top Tuesday evening as both Berger and Kibling allowed less than a runner per inning on base. Berger threw all seven innings allowing four hits and two walks; Kibling also pitched seven innings allowing only four hits with no bases on balls permitted. Both Golden Eagle pitchers finished their games with three strikeouts on their way to victory.

In the first game of the doubleheader senior Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) reached base every single plate appearance as the first baseman earned three bases on balls and also doubled during the contest while scoring a run. Delaney Buckley (Utica, NY/Utica Notre Dame) also had a big day at the plate finishing the game with two hits and two runs batted in.

The Golden Eagles biggest inning came in the seventh as Proper led off with a double before Lindsay Wachna (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) singled. The next batter Alyssa Balfe (Oriskany, NY/Oriskany) was walked while the fourth ball was also a wild pitch allowing Proper to score. Buckley followed the walk with a run scoring double. Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville) hit a sacrifice fly to cap off the three run inning and conclude the scoring in the 6-1 Brockport win.

In the second game the Golden Eagles scored a single run in the third and fifth innings to propel Berger to a 2-0 victory. In the third inning Brianna Ferchen (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) singled on a ball to third base utilizing her speed to beat the play out. She then advanced to second and third on a wild pitch and passed ball. She advanced yet again after a throwing error by the Bengal catcher allowing her to score and give Brockport the 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles next scored in the fifth inning as Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) doubled with one out before Proper drove a ball to centerfield for a double that knocked in Harris, concluding the scoring for both teams as Brockport clinched the doubleheader sweep by a score of 2-0.

Brockport travels to Geneseo for a SUNYAC doubleheader on Friday at 3 and 5 pm.
