Box Score Sophomore Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) tallied a career high nine points as The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team defeated Buffalo State in convincing fashion Tuesday afternoon in Buffalo in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) matchup.
A balanced attack allowed Brockport (6-3, 2-1 SUNYAC) to have twelve different Golden Eagles score a goal in the 23-5 victory. The Green and Gold outshot Buffalo State 41-12 and were a perfect 10-for-10 on clear attempts.Â
Brockport scored seven unanswered goals in the first thirteen minutes of play to jump out to a 7-0 lead. Freshman Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) got the scoring started a minute and a half into the game as she converted on a pass from Wall. Less than a minute later senior Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) picked up a ground ball after a Buffalo State turnover and took the ball right to the net for an unassisted goal. In the final eight minutes of the first half Brockport went on a 5-0 run to take a 15-2 lead to halftime.
The Bengals scored one minute into the second half but Brockport tacked on three straight goals to take a demanding 18-3 lead with twenty minutes left in the game. Senior Colleen Hathaway (Watertown, NY/South Jefferson) forced a turnover in Bengals territory and scored moments later on a pass from Boddery. Junior Keeley Rice (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) scored Brockport's twentieth goal of the game off of a free position shot after a Buffalo State foul.
In the final few minutes of play, Brockport scored two goals forty seconds apart as freshmen Samantha Dooling (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Taylor Thomas (Cortland, NY/Cortland) found the back of the net on passes from freshman Andrea Zlinsky (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy). Buffalo State scored two goals in the second half but couldn't spark a comeback as Brockport cruised to victory.
Wall led the Brockport offense with five goals and four assists while Boddery picked up four goals and one assist. Rice tallied two goals and three assists.  Junior Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas), sophomore Amanda Klein (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) and Tassone each finished with two goals while Dooling recorded one goal and one assist. Sophomore Lauren Mancini (Liverpool, Ny/Liverpool),sophomore Meg LeGro (Kirkville, NY/East Syracuse-Mino), Hathaway, Zlinsky and Thomas each finished with one goal. Senior Remle Harr (Farmington, NY/Fairport) made two saves in her sixth win of the season.
Brockport is on the road this weekend as they face SUNYAC opponent Potsdam Saturday at 12:30 pm.
