Box Score

The College at Brockport Softball team utilized another brilliant performance from pitcher Korey Kibling (LaFayette, NY/Bishop Ludden) and an offensive clinic from Brianna Harris (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) in which the junior outfielder batted a perfect four-for-four to keep the Golden Eagles alive in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament with a 4-2 extra inning win over Oneonta on Friday afternoon.

Brockport staved off elimination yesterday and sent home its second opponent today as it defeated Oneonta on the host campus of Cortland. The Golden Eagles took the lead over the Red Dragons of Oneonta in the sixth inning and were two outs from advancing before the Red Dragon left fielder homered to tie the score at 2-2 and sending it to extra innings.

Harris led off the eighth inning for the Golden Eagles. The Oneonta pitcher well aware of Harris' stellar day fell behind in the count 2-0 before throwing one over the plate that Harris sent soaring over the center field fence. Erika Lazzaro (Oswego, NY/Oswego) added some cushion to the Golden Eagle lead with a home run of her own two batters later, pushing Brockport to a 4-2 lead.

Kibling sent the Red Dragons one-by-one for three consecutive outs in the bottom half to finish the game and earn her 10th win of the season. Jaime Berger (Norwich, NY/Norwich) started the game for the Golden Eagles, allowing only an earned run over three innings but struggled with her command walking five batters. Kibling entered the game in the fourth inning and threw five innings allowing only four hits and a single run while striking out two.

The Golden Eagles scored their first run in the third inning. Nicole Atkins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) led the inning off with a single before being pinch ran for by Stephanie Scala (Shrub Oak, NY/Lakeland). Gabrielle Rivers (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) executed a sacrifice bunt to advance Scala into scoring position. One batter later, Harris hit her second single of the game to plate the pinch runner and knot the game up at 1-1.

Harris started the sixth inning off for Brockport with her third single of the game before being doubled up on a line drive. The Green and Gold put together a two out rally started by cleanup hitter Kelly Proper (Silver Springs, NY/Letchworth) single. Proper was pinch ran for by Shannon Allen (Brockport, NY/Brockport) and advanced to second on Lazzaro's single. Lindsay Wachna (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga) put Brockport ahead with its third consecutive single.

Brockport will face Cortland next in the SUNYAC Tournament at 11:00 am after the Red Dragons fell to Geneseo 8-5.
