Box Score Makensie Schuber (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) helped The College at Brockport Women's Lacrosse team stay even with Cortland initially in the first half of play before falling to the nationally ranked Red Dragons 21-8 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Semifinal game and getting eliminated from the playoffs.
Brockport (10-7) fell in an early hole and was trailing by two scores less than four minutes of play. Schuber netted the first goal for Brockport six minutes into the action. A little less than two minutes later, Keeley Rice (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) sent a pass to Nina Tassone (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) who evened the score up with 22:15 left in the first half.
Cortland followed the two consecutive Golden Eagle scores with four straight of its own before Brockport's Kelly Wall (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) ended the run with an extra-man opportunity goal with less than nine minutes to play in the first.
The Golden Eagles trailed 6-3 at that point before Cortland pulled away with another four goal run. Schuber scored a goal towards the end of the first half prior to another Cortland score ended the half with the score 11-4.
Jessica Boddery (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) scored three goals for Brockport in the second half as the deficit grew. Tassone assisted on two of Boddery's scores and Schuber scored late in the second half as well.
Courtney Szczesniak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) led the Golden Eagle defense with five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Ciara McKeon (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) secured eight draw controls.
