Head coach
Jason Mangone and the Golden Eagles (2-1) got off to an explosive start, with a
Wayne Bonsell to
Dan Andrews connection for an early 7-0 lead. On the following possession, the Green and Gold defense came up big when
Ed Suriano sacked the Fisher (1-2) quarterback, forcing a fumble. The junior then scooped up the ball, returning the fumble 60-yards to push the Golden Eagles ahead 14-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The Cardinals were able to get on the board early in the second quarter to make the count 14-7. The Golden Eagles responded, as Bonsell tallied his second passing touchdown of the day when he found an open

Fisher took the momentum of the second quarter into the third, coming out of the half with a pair of touchdowns to take their first lead of the contest, 28-21. Each team would trade late quarter touchdowns and see the Green and Gold trail 35-28 at the end of the period.
Just seconds into the fourth quarter, junior
Dan Andrews broke through the stiff Fisher line to tie the game at 28-28. Andrews one-yard touchdown dive capped an eight-play, 55-yard drive.
A quick stop by the defense allowed the Golden Eagles to put the ball back into their offenses hands. Two minutes and 45 seconds later, Andrews finished off the 60-yard drive with a 19-yard touchdown reception from Bonsell. Brockport swung the momentum and took the 35-28 lead with 9:53 remaining in the contest.

The Cardinals managed the clock and worked the ball to the Brockport 10-yard line, looking to kick the game winning field goal as time expired. With two seconds remaining, a good snap and kick was all for not, as a stout Green and Gold special teams unit broke through the Cardinal line and Brockport freshman
Jake O'Connell came up with the biggest play of the night. O'Connell blocked the Fisher field goal attempt.
Brynell Middleton scooped up the loose ball, and was stopped just short of the end zone to force overtime.
In the first overtime period, the Golden Eagles began with possession, and after working down to the Fisher five-yard line, a Bonsell pass was picked off in the end zone. With everything on the line, the Brockport defense stood tall, forcing a Fisher field goal attempt. The 22-yard attempt was no good, sending the Golden Eagles to a second overtime.
The Cardinals began the second overtime with possession, and found the end zone to push the score to 42-35. Needing seven points to extend the game, Bonsell stepped up on third and long, finding
Jerry Thompson down the middle for a 21-yard pick up and a first down. The next snap saw Andrews find pay dirt for a four-yard touchdown run, needing the extra point to give the Golden Eagles a chance for a third overtime. The Brockport extra point missed just wide right, and the final score would stand, 42-41.
