Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. - The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team and Johns Hopkins were enthralled in a tight game all afternoon in Baltimore, MD before a late goal pushed the Blue Jays past the Golden Eagles 1-0 for the first time in the schools' histories.
Brockport (1-1) and Johns Hopkins last played in 1975 but seemed to have enough familiarity with one another to keep a close entertaining contest. The Blue Jays scored in the 82nd minute to take the lead.
The Golden Eagles played exceptional defense for much of the game, especially Chase Crawley deep in the Green and Gold zone and Patrick Sprague chipped in a solid performance in the midfield.
Johns Hopkins also played exceptional defense and was able to stifle the Golden Eagle offense to limited scoring opportunities. David LaPietra rifled a shot halfway through the second half only to find the hands of the Blue Jays goalkeeper.
Peter DiLorenzo led the team with two shots including one in which he dribbled past the defense and struck a low hard shot that the goalkeeper was able to make a nice save on.
The Blue Jays nearly took the lead within the first 10 minutes of the first half when Casey Sullivan made a nice save on a knuckling low kick that was hit from about 15 yards out.
The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow night versus Bethany at Johns Hopkins campus. Be sure to stay up to date on all your Golden Eagle scores and awards by following @BportAthletics on Twitter and "Brockport Golden Eagles" on Facebook.
