Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The College at Brockport Women's Volleyball team used an unquestionable desire to win to remain unbeaten after posting two more wins to close out the Brockport Volleyball Invitational. The Golden Eagles defeated both Skidmore and Ithaca 3-0 in both matches.

Brockport (5-0) showed great poise through the weekend's tournament and responded every time it needed to in order to pull out the victory. The Green and Gold beat Skidmore by the scores of 25-16, 25-19 and 25-13 before a matchup against the previously unbeaten Ithaca Bombers. Brockport defeated Ithaca 25-16, 25-15 and 25-22.

Coach Steve Pike utilized a strong rotation of players in order to keep the energy and intensity levels at the maximum. The one constant presence for the Golden Eagles out on the Jim and John Vlogiantis Gymnasium court was setter Noelle Poloncarz. She yet again crafted a brilliant two matches as she led the team with 64 assists.

Brockport had lost its previous four matches to Ithaca including its first match of the season last year during the Brockport Invitational. The Golden Eagles and Bombers battled back and forth early in set one as Brockport held a 10-9 lead around 15 minutes into the game.

Pike inserted Aimee Spilman to the game and the sophomore led Brockport on a six point swing behind her serving. Poloncarz dished out five assists during that span with three in a row to Sam Holdredge and two more to Brianna Richardson.

Richardson continued her excellent start to the season. Once again this season, she made great decisions with her attacks. She contributed eight kills without any errors versus Skidmore before another strong match against Ithaca including eight kills compared to only two errors. On the day she finished with an attacking success percentage of .483 on the day.

Poloncarz led the team with a hitting percentage of .500, proving to be a crafty setter and catching the opposition's defense off-guard. She had five kills on the day.

Kayla Barber also had an excellent day for the Green and Gold as she contributed 15 kills against Ithaca and 10 versus Skidmore. She was also a force from the service line against Skidmore totaling five aces.

Ithaca had a troublesome time getting past Brockport's blockers all match. Ashley Capone led the team with five blocks while Poloncarz and Hannah Sawicki also contributed two apiece. On the contest Brockport had 10 blocks compared to the Bombers four.

Brockport's libero Kathleen Irwin also had solid matches on the court today with 34 total digs. Spilman had 28 and Holdredge added 23 digs as well.

The Golden Eagles remain home for their next contest against D'Youville Wednesday September 9 at 7 pm. Be sure to stay up to date on all of your Golden Eagle scores and awards by following @BportAthletics on Twitter and "Brockport Golden Eagles" on Facebook.
