ONEONTA, N.Y. – In State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, The College at Brockport women's soccer team couldn't hold off a late charging SUNY Oneonta team, as they fell 3-0.
The Golden Eagles move to 5-3-1 on the season and 2-2 in league action while the Red Dragons improve to 4-3-4 and 2-1-1 in conference play.
The contest was a tightly contested one, as the Brockport defense worked hard to hold the Red Dragons at bay, and did so throughout the first half. The Green and Gold offense struggled to find the back of the net in the opening period, and went into the half tied 0-0.
The close play continued in the second half, as neither team was able to work in a goal for the first 30 minutes of the half. In the 75th minute, the Golden Eagles let up their first goal, and two quick scores followed in the 78th and 80th minutes to give Oneonta a 3-0 edge. The late Red Dragon run proved too much for the golden Eagles, as they fell 3-0.
Brockport had two shots in the contest, with both on goal for the Green and Gold.
Catherine Eliasson got the start, and saw all 90 minutes of action while making a season-high 12 saves on the day.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 4 when they return home to host Utica College, with kickoff slated for 7 pm.
