BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team posted a strong non-conference win on Tuesday, downing Utica College, 4-1.

The Golden Eagles improve to 6-3-1 on the year while the Pioneers fall to 1-10 on the season.

Brockport got the offense started early when
Kaitlyn Niedermeier buried a shot into the bottom left corner of the goal in the opening eight minutes of play to take the 1-0 lead.

The Green and Gold advantage was short lived however, as the Pioneers snuck a goal past the Brockport net minder to tie the contest in the 11th minute. The Golden Eagles held off any Utica advances, taking a 1-1 score into the break.

In the second half, the Brockport offense broke the game open, with a pair of scores within a five-minute window.
Stefanie Drago worked in the go-ahead score when she put away an
Olivia Kuter corner. Then Niedermeier netted her second score in the 55th minute, this time off a
Sabrina DeBellis set up for the 3-1 lead.

The Green and Gold offense added a fourth goal in the 64th minute when DeBellis set up a
Maddie Siclare goal for the 4-1 lead. The Golden Eagle defense had a strong showing in the second half, blanking the Pioneers for the final score 4-1.

Brockport outmatched its counterparts in shots (20-7), shots on goal (14-3) and corner kicks (4-2).

Catherine Eliasson got the start, and the win, with two saves on the day.
Kimberly Lubanski came in, and picked up six minutes of action for the Green and Gold.

"The team did well tonight to respond to a tough loss last game," said head coach
Mike Idland.  "What I was most impressed with was how we responded to a fluke goal against us that could have derailed a less focused group. Hopefully we can carry that focus over into our next conference match."

Brockport will be back in action on Oct. 8 when they return to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play at SUNY Geneseo.
