GENESEO, N.Y. – The field hockey team was defeated by conference foe Geneseo 6-1 today to fall to 2-10 (0-4 SUNYAC), while the Knights improve to 5-8 (3-2).
After falling behind 3-0 early in the first half, the Golden Eagles notched their lone goal of the game in the 32nd minute when
Maya Reina found the back of the net off an assist from
Emilee Boddery. Reina has come on of late for the Golden Eagles, notching two goals in the last three games.
Neither team was able to score in the final minutes of the first half, giving Geneseo a 3-1 lead heading into the break.
The Knights were able to hold Brockport scoreless in the second stanza while notching three more goals themselves, giving them the 6-1 victory. Giovanna Fasanello led the Geneseo offense, registering three goals in the contest.
Sarah Beam and
Adriana DeDie split the goaltending duties for the Golden Eagles, combining for 13 saves. Beam now ranks third in the conference in saves with 94.
The field hockey team will hit the road on Friday when they travel to Aurora, N.Y. for a matchup with the Wells College Express.
