AURORA, N.Y. – With a pair of second half goals, The College at Brockport field hockey team downed Wells College on Friday,
The Golden Eagles improve to 3-11 on the year while the Express fall to 4-12 in 2016.
The matchup proved to be evenly contested, with neither team able to work in a goal through the majority of the first half. In the final minute of the opening period, Brockport saw the Express sneak in a goal to take a slim 1-0 lead into the half.
In the second half, it was all Brockport, as the Golden Eagles worked in a pair of goals. In the 44th minute,
Margo Tremaine notched a goal to knot the contest at 1-1. In the 60th minute,
Allie McConnell found the back of the cage for the Green and Gold go-ahead, when she worked in a
Paula Amo set up. The Green and Gold defense held on to post the 2-1 win.
The Green and Gold outworked the Express in several categories including shots (17-8), shot on goal (12-2), and penalty corners (10-2).
Olivia Landry stood tall in goal for the Golden Eagles for all 70 minutes, making one save on the day.
The Golden Eagles will return home for their next game, with a matchup against Nazareth College on Oct. 18, with a 6 pm start time.
