OSWEGO, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team suffered a tough loss in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Friday, falling 2-1 against Oswego State.
 
The Golden Eagles fall to 6-5-1 on the year and 2-4 in league play while the Lakers move to 6-4-3 and 3-3-1 in the SUNYAC.
 
Head coach Mike Idland's squad opened the contest strong with an early goal. At 9:16 Maddie Siclare lifted a shot over the Oswego net minder's left shoulder off a Chelsea Stahl set up to take the early 1-0 lead.
 
The Green and Gold defense held the home team at bay for the opening 30 minutes of action, until the Lakers scored back-to-back goals within a four minute stretch to regain the lead at 2-1, a score that would stand through to the half.
 
The second half proved to be a battle, with Brockport unable to find the back of the net. The Golden Eagles did hold their counterparts scoreless, as the final count of 2-1 would stand.
 
"I think we know we could have played a lot better today, and gotten a better result," said Idland. "We've put ourselves in a bad spot and we'll have to try to have a very positive response as a group to get ourselves out of it."
 
The Green and Gold worked for four shots, all four of which were on goal.
 
Daniele Ogrodowski picked up the start and in 90 minutes of action made three saves.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow when they continue their road trip, and take on SUNY Cortland.
