BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team faced off in State University of New York Athletic Conference action on Friday against Morrisville State, scoring two goals late in the second half to post a 2-0 win.
The Golden Eagles are 5-11 on the season and have a 1-5 mark in league play while the Mustangs are 2-13 on the year and 0-6 in the SUNYAC.
Brockport got off six shots in the first half but wasn't able to find the back of the net. The Golden Eagle defense stood strong and only allowed one shot in the scoreless first frame.
The Green and Gold scored their two goals in the final seven minutes of play.
Paula Amo scored her first goal of the season after scooping up a deflection off of
Christina Conkling's shot to go up 1-0 at the 62:56 mark.
Exactly four minutes later the Golden Eagles struck again as
Margo Tremaine one-timed a pass across the crease from
Margo Tremaine.
Sarah Beam played all 70 minutes in goal, making one save in her third win of the season between the pipes.
Brockport tabbed 19 shots while holding the Mustangs to just two. The Golden Eagles earned 15 penalty corners to Morrisville's five.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 25 when they host Ithaca College in their season finale set for 4 pm.
