BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday in a non-conference battle with Wells College with four different Golden Eagles working their way into the scoring column.
Brockport improves to 2-9 on the year while the Express fall to a mark of 4-9 in 2016.
The offense got started early as
Christina Conkling buried an unassisted goal for the Green and Gold at the 1:32 mark to take the early 1-0 lead. Brockport's offense wasn't done, as
Katherine Weyant was able to thread the needle from the top of the arch to find an open
Abby Meagher, who put the ball away for the 2-0 Golden Eagle advantage, which held through to the break.
In the second half the Golden Eagles relinquished a goal in the opening four minutes of action, putting Wells on the board at 2-1. Brockport added another goal, in the 50th minute, when a penalty corner set up a
Margo Tremaine score to push the Green and Gold lead out to 3-1. The Golden Eagles added a fourth goal in the waning minutes of play, when
Maya Reina found the back of the cage, to post the 4-1 win.
The Golden Eagles outmatched their competition in several categories, including shots (15-8), shots on goal (13-8) and penalty corners (14-3).
Olivia Landry got the start and the win, seeing over 57 minutes of action and picking up six saves.
Adriana DeDie came in for the final 12:29 of action, and grabbed one stop.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Oct. 7 when they resume State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play and face off against SUNY Oswego in Oswego, N.Y.
