Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Brockport blocks St. Lawrence University, 16-5

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – An explosive second half for Hailey Boronczyk helped lead The College at Brockport women's lacrosse team past St. Lawrence University on Friday, 16-5.

The Golden Eagles improve to 5-0 on the year while the Saints fall to 1-2 in 2016.

Head coach Stephen Wagner's squad opened the scoring, with Jessica Boddery burying a Kelly Wall set up at the 26:38 mark for the early 1-0 edge. Brockport saw St. Lawrence pull ahead after a pair of back-to-back scores to 23:06.

The Brockport offense got rolling as the clock ticked under 20 minutes, with Andrea Zlinsky breaking the scoring silence with an unassisted goal to knot the contest at 2-2. Five straight Golden Eagle goals were yet to come, as Makensie Schuber, Samantha Dooling, and Zlinsky would each score one while Wall snuck in two shots for the 8-2 lead.

The Saints would connect again, when a score at just under four minutes would make the count 8-3. The Golden Eagles weren't done yet, as Zlinsky completed the hat trick at the 2:45 mark to take a 9-3 lead into the halftime break.

The Golden Eagles came out strong in the second half, scoring five straight goals to post a 14-3 lead. Wall got things started just eight minutes into the half, with Peyton Pallar adding a goal. Boronczyk netted three for the Golden Ealges to give them a 14-3 edge by the 11-minute mark.

The Green and Gold saw the Saints sneak in another pair of shots, but it was not enough as the Golden Eagles came up with answers to each, with a Hannah Cullen score and a fourth Boronczyk goal.

Brockport bypassed the Saints in more categories than just scoring, with a 29-19 advantage in the shots column, with 21 shots fired on goal. The Green and Gold forced 18 SLU turnovers, and went 15-for-16 in clears. Brockport scooped up more ground balls by a tally of 25-16.

Sara Shaddock saw all 60 minutes of action in rout to her fifth win of the season, where she grabbed seven saves.

Brockport will be back in action on March 24 when they host Nazareth College at 4 p.m.
