BROCKPORT, N.Y. – An explosive offense led The College at Brockport past Hilbert College on Wednesday, 13-4.
The Golden Eagles improve to 5-1 in 2016 while the Hawks fall to 1-2 on the year.
After the Green and Gold saw Hilbert take a quick 3-0 lead, an early Brockport timeout from head coach
Ben Wineburg reset the Golden Eagles charge.
Out of the timeout the Green and Gold netted seven straight scores to close the half.
Liam Cannon netted a pair of goals, with
Mark Robinson,
Jake Giudice,
Nick Smith, Mrcus Palvino and
John Countryman all getting in on the action with a goal each to take a 7-3 lead into the halftime break.
The Golden Eagles carried their momentum into the second half, scoring three straight to open the half. Giudice buried a Cannon set up just four minutes into the period.
Brendan Fitzgerald added another score, with
Casey Cleary sneaking on in to post a 10-3 lead with 6:48 to play in the third.
The Hawks worked in one final goal before the Golden Eagles closed the contest with three straight scores. Cannon worked in a goal with 3:37 to play in the third to secure the hat trick and
Colton Oliver netted a score in the final 30 seconds of the period.
Matt Malecki put an explanation mark on the win with the lone goal in the fourth to make the final count 13-4.
The Golden Eagles outworked the Hawks in several categories, including shots, with a tally of 50-18, with 32 shots on goal. The Green and Gold forced 25 Hilbert turnovers, and picked up 25 ground balls. The Golden Eagles also went 28-for-30 on clears and picked up 16 faceoff wins.
Steven Gurin led the Brockport defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Nick Smith had a pair of CT's, and scooped up four grounders on the day.
Dallas Meyers picked up the win with over 51 minutes of action and five saves in rout to the win.
Trey Love saw just under nine minutes of action, with a save on the day.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on March 26 when they host Benedictine University at 12 p.m.
