HOBOKEN, N.J. – The College at Brockport field hockey team sustained an 8-1 loss on Sunday on the road against Stevens Institute of Technology.
The Golden Eagles fall to 1-3 on the year, while the Ducks improve to 3-1 in 2016.
Brockport fell behind early when a string of three straight Stevens' goals by the 21st minute set the Green and Gold deficit at 3-0. That score that would stand through the first half.
In the second half, the Golden Eagle defense held Stevens scoreless through over 10 minutes of play, but in the 46th minute, the Ducks tacked on a fourth goal.
Margo Tremaine worked to break the Brockport scoring silence, when she put away a deflection off a
Christina Conkling set up that got the Golden Eagles on the board at the 48 minute mark. Following the Brockport score, the Ducks worked in four more goals to make the final count 8-1.
The Golden Eagles fired six shots on the day, with all six on goal, while also earning four penalty corners.
Olivia Landry got the start, and saw the first 35 minutes of action, while stopping seven shots, while
Sarah Beam picked up the second 35 minutes, and snagged five saves.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Sept. 15 when they take on the University of Rochester at 7 pm.
