BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The volleyball team put on yet another impressive performance on Wednesday, defeating the University of Rochester three sets to none. The win improves the Golden Eagles to 9-1 on the season, while U of R falls to 6-3.
The first set was nothing short of dominant for Brockport, as they jumped out to an early 6-2 lead that they would never relinquish.
Sam Holdredge got off to a hot start, racking up six kills in the opening set to pace the team. The unit thrived when
Maddy Taylor was at the service line, as the sophomore served them to nine points. Brockport would end up taking the first set by a score of 25-10.
Brockport kept their foot on the gas in the second, once again using an early run to carry them through to victory. After a short run in the middle of the set that got the Yellow Jackets back within five, the Golden Eagles responded with a three point run to force set point, capped off by a
Kathleen Irwin service ace.
After a back and forth third set that saw Brockport leading by just two at 16-14, they took control the rest of the way. Holdredge put down three more balls, and Waters and Richardson each added a kill out of the middle to give them the 25-18 third set victory.
Holdredge added to her team-leading 88 kills with 14 more in this contest, which led the team. Richardon and Stoltz also helped offensively, combing for 14 more kills. Richardson was big in the blocking department, registering three block assists and a solo block.
