HARTWICK, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team fell in a close battle on Saturday against Hartwick College, 1-0.
 
The Golden Eagles fall to 1-5 on the season while the Hawks improve to 6-0.
 
Despite outshooting the Hawks, the Golden Eagles couldn't find the back of the cage in the match. The lone goal of the contest came in the 18th minute, giving Brockport a 1-0 deficit. From then on however, the Brockport defense picked up play, holding the Hawks scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
 
The Green and Gold offense outshot their opponents by a margin of 11-9, with five shots on goal. The Golden Eagles were also awarded 11 penalty corners on the day.  Autumn Swavely and Katherine Weyant led the way with three shots each, while Kelsey Devine added two.
 
Sarah Beam saw all 70 minutes of action for the Green and Gold, while making six saves on the day.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Sept. 23 when they return home to open State University of New York Athletic Conference play against SUNY New Paltz.
