BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team fell to Buffalo State on Saturday in their second conference game of the season. The loss drops Brockport to 4-2-1 overall (1-1 SUNYAC) while the Bengals improve to 6-1-2 (2-0 SUNYAC).
The game was as tightly contested as they come, with the lone goal coming in the 76th minute off the foot of Buffalo State's Catherine Mammoser.
Goalkeeper
Daniele Ogrodowski has been outstanding in goal thus far in 2016, and kept up that pace today, stopping 14 of the 15 shots on goal that she faced. The senior's .950 save percentage puts her at the top of the SUNYAC conference, and places her in the top-25 nationally in that category.
Christina Leonardo provided a spark off the bench, taking two shots that were both on frame and had to be saved by the Buffalo State keeper.
Despite the loss, head coach
Mike Idland see's opportunity in the way his team performed.
"Although we're unhappy with the result, I think we should be very proud of how we played against one of the top teams in the SUNYAC," said Idland. "In the end, they managed to score one of their two clear cut scoring chances and we didn't convert either of ours. We'll work on sharpening that end of things up and do a little better next time we're in the same situation."
That situation may present itself on Sept. 30 when the Golden Eagles hit the road to take on conference foe SUNY New Paltz.
