Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Idland gets first Brockport win, blanks Wooster 2-0

ERIE, Pa. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team picked up a bounce back win on Sunday, head coach Mike Idland's first as Brockport front man, against The College of Wooster, 2-0.

The Golden Eagles improve to 1-1 on the year while the Fighting Scots fall to 1-2 in 2016.

With a tough defensive effort in the first half, neither team was able to break through for a goal, but the Golden Eagles fought to find the back of the net in the second half.

Just three minutes into play, Stefanie Drago got Brockport on the board off a Kaitlyn Niedermeier set up, which she shot from the right side and finished into the lower corner.

Neirdermeir continued to thread the needle, as she got the assist on the Golden Eagles second goal, when a cross from the end line was just what Sabrina DeBellis needed to give Brockport the 2-0 lead, and victory.

"That was the second very solid effort of the weekend for us," said coach Idland of the win. "We were a little bit more consistent on the defensive side today as a team, which I think made the difference. We feel good to get the first win of the season, and now it's right back to work."

The Golden Eagles dominated the stats column, firing off 17 shots, with nine on goal and earned six corner kicks. Siclare led the way with four shots on goal, while Drago worked in two shots on goal.

The Green and Gold defense held their opponents to just three shots, with zero on goal. In her first start for the Golden Eagles, Daniele Ogrodowski picked up the shutout in 90 minutes of action.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Sept. 8 when they head to St. John Fisher for a midweek matchup in East Rochester, N.Y.
