FREDONIA, N.Y. – Despite a strong first half, The College at Brockport women's basketball team could not hold on in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play, falling on Friday against Fredonia, 63-56.
The Golden Eagles move to 3-11 on the season and have a 2-5 mark in conference play while the Blue Devils are now 12-2 on the year and 7-1 in league action.

Megan Anagnostopulos and free throws from
Emily Nestler and
Schyler Laux. Back-to-back scores from
Lindsay Johnson and
Hannah Rehbaum to close the period gave the Green and Gold a 14-8 lead at the first break.
The Golden Eagle offensive machine continued to produce in the second quarter, building to a double-digit lead after a
Faith Welch jumper made the count 29-19.
Emily Nestler connected for the last score of the half, as the Golden Eagles took a 32-19 advantage into the break.

In the third frame the hot Brockport offense began to cool, as the Green and Gold struggled to produce. The Golden Eagles started the period going tick-for-tack with the Blue Devils, but a 10-0 Fredonia run cut the Brockport advantage to just three with 3:24 remaining. The Golden Eagles saw their lead disappear in the final minute of the quarter, but a pair of
Bailey Pratt free throws reclaimed the advantage at 43-42.
A Rehbaum three-point play to open the fourth gave the Golden Eagles the slight edge at 46-42. The Green and Gold saw their counterparts sustain a 6-0 run, but a timely Laux triple regained the Brockport lead, 49-48 with 6:11 to play.
The Golden Eagles couldn't slow the Blue Devils, as they worked for a 7-2 run to push out to an insurmountable lead. A pair of Brockport scores down the stretch wasn't enough, as the Green and Gold would fall, 63-56.
Laux tallied her season high of 22 to lead all scorers in the contest. Rehbaum also worked into double-figures with 10 points, five boards and three assists. Pratt chipped in with seven points, also adding three assists.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Jan. 14 when they return home to host Buffalo State in SUNYAC action.
