BROCKPORT, N.Y.- In a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) battle, The College at Brockport women's basketball team used overtime to slip past Buffalo State 56-46 on Saturday evening.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 14-4 lead behind seven consecutive points by sophomore
Emily Nestler. Brockport scored the final two points of the period when
Faith Welch hit a jumper in the paint to bring the tally to 16-8 in favor of the Green and Gold.

The Bengals opened up the second frame of play scoring back-to-back buckets cutting The Brockport lead to 16-12. The Golden Eagles were able to push the lead back to 12 points following a 7-0 run, during the run Welch recorded a lay-up ,connected on a three pointer and Nestler completed a three-point play. Buffalo state was able to cut the lead back to six points ending the half on a 6-0 run.

Nestler scored 10 first half points on 4-for-6 shooting, and finished the stanza with four blocked shots. The Green and Gold played excellent defense in the first twenty minutes of play holding the Bengals to just 24.2 percent shooting from the floor, and 14.3 percent from three-point land.

Buffalo State was able to force overtime outscoring the Golden Eagles 14-8 in the fourth quarter. At the five minute mark the Bengals took their first lead since early in the first quarter netting a three pointer putting Buffalo State up 41-40. With 16 seconds left in the contest,
Hannah Rehbaum tied the game at 45 connecting on the front end of a pair of free throws to force overtime.

The Green and Gold dominated the extra period of play outscoring Buffalo State 11-1.
Megan Anagnostopulos was stellar from the line, in overtime going 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles were 9-for-10 as a team from the free throw line in the extra frame.

Brockport had four players finish with double figures. Nestler finished the night with 14 points, to go along with eight boards and five blocks. Welch posted 13 points, while dishing out four assists and recording three steels.
Schyler Laux chipped in with 11 points, pulling down seven boards in the process, and Rehbaum added 10 points and six rebounds for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport returns to action on Friday, January 20, hosting Plattsburgh. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
