GENESEO- N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball team faced off against league-leaders SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, falling short 79-60.
 
The Golden Eagles move to 3-9 on the season and 2-3 in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) while the Knights improve to 11-0 on the year and 5-0 in conference action.
 
Brockport got off to a strong start, piecing together a 9-2 run with three straight buckets from 
Lindsay Johnson and a 
Schyler Laux triple to post an 11-7 lead less than four minutes into play.
 
The Green and Gold saw their lead disappear, but a 
Hannah Rehbaum score at the 4:48 mark regained the brief 13-11 edge. The Golden Eagles worked to keep pace, and following an 
Emily Nestler layup, took a 24-18 deficit into the first break.
 
The Green and Gold offense struggled to produce in the second quarter, outmatched by the Knights, 17-10 in the period. Rehbaum led the way in the quarter with a basket in the paint and a triple, wile 
Bailey Pratt added a trey of her own. 
Emily Nestler knocked down a pair at the line, for a halftime score of 41-28.

Corinne Jones' squad came out strong in the second half, with a 9-0 run cutting the lead to single digits, fueled by a pair of scores from Johnson, a triple from Anagnostopulos and a pair of free throws from Rehbaum to make the count 49-41. The Golden Eagles saw the Knights connect from the charity stripe to close the quarter, as the Green and Gold were faced with a 61-45 deficit heading into the final stanza.
 
In the final period of play, the Golden Eagles couldn't stop the Knights, as their lead swelled to 21 by the 5:29 mark. The Green and Gold fought to chip away, but couldn't muster enough offense, ultimately falling to Geneseo, 79-60.
 
Johnson led the Golden Eagles with 16 points and five rebounds, while 
Hannah Rehbaum chipped in 15 and five boards. Megan Anagnostopulous worked into double figures with 11, shooting 3-for-5 from three-point range.
 
On the day, Brockport shot a sound 44.9 percent from the field, and had a solid 42.1 three point shooting percentage. The Green and Gold were also a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
 
The Golden Eagles will continue their road stretch, and be back in action on Jan. 10 when they take on Buffalo State.
