ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team was defeated by Nazareth College Tuesday evening by a final score of 6-1. The Golden Eagles fall to 3-12 on the year, and the Golden Flyers move to 2-13.
The Brockport defense was tested early, as Nazareth dominated the first 10 minutes offensively with three penalty corners and multiple shot opportunities. The Green and Gold answered with their own back-to-back penalty corners, in which
Katie Ziemba tallied two shots that could not be converted. The Golden Eagles fell behind when Nazareth notched a goal in the 24th and 34th minute to trail 2-0 heading into the halftime break.
Brockport dropped back even further when the Golden Flyers registered two more goals early into the second half to extend their lead to 4-0. The Green and Gold found some life when
Maria Morgenthaler scored in the 54th minute with the assist from
Emily Hall, to trail 4-1. Brockport lost their momentum off an additional two goals from Nazareth to bring the score to its eventual final, 6-1.
Sarah Beam finished the game with nine saves in the net.
Brockport travels back home for senior day on Oct. 21 where they face Utica College, with the game set to start at 12 p.m.
