BROCKPORT, N.Y.— The College at Brockport wrestling team opened their season of competition with the Brockport Open on Saturday. The tournament included teams such as Alfred State, Buffalo Wrestling Club, Cornell, Finger Lakes Wrestling Club, Jamestown Community College, Lackawanna College, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Jonathan Haas and
Neiko Scarano took first and second place respectively for the 125-weight class. Haas went a perfect 5-0 on the day with the first four victories coming in the way of technical fall and his fifth victory by medical forfeit. Scarano went 4-1 with his sole loss coming against his teammate Haas.

Dillon Stowell finished in second place, winning three straight matches before falling to Vito Arujau in the final match. Stowell started the day dominating his first opponent and winning in a 16-1 technical fall. He continued to dominate pinning his second opponent at 3:32.

The Green and Gold took home second and third in the 141.
Nathan Walker won his first two matches before falling in the finals match to Michael Venosa of Finger Lakes Wrestling Club.
Mark Hitchcock fell to Venosa in his second match, but went on to win two more matches to take home third place.

Sean Peacock finished in second place after losing by injury in his final match. Peacock rolled in his first three matches of the day, defeating all three of his opponents by technical fall.

The Golden Eagles had another pair of top-3 finishers in the 184 with
Travis Race taking second place and
Thaddus Jeffries finishing in third. Race won three of four matches, two of which were by fall. Jeffries ended 2-2 in his four matches, winning his first match by technical fall and his second match by 8-2 decision.

Triston Engle led the way for the 197-weight class winning all five of his matches with the first four coming in pin fall in under 1:15. Fellow Golden Eagle
Dillon Knoll started his Brockport career with a third-place finish. Knoll was victorious in three of his five matches, two of which were by fall.
The Golden Eagles travel to Alliance, Ohio for the Mt. Union Tournament.
