DAYTONA, Fla. – The College at Brockport men's basketball team put together an offensive showcase on Sunday afternoon, defeating Whittier College 108-92. The 108 points is the teams highest point total since 2006 when they scored 112 in a victory over Keuka College.
Josh Nelson lit it up in the first half of play, making his first six shots from beyond the arc on his way to 19 first half points.
Justin Summers also had a big first half, scoring 15 of his team-high 25 in the opening frame.
The Golden Eagles never trailed in this contest, taking an early 3-0 lead and never looking back. The Poets knocked down a pair of early threes to tie the game at 6-6, but Brockport responded with an eight point run to take a commanding lead that they would never relinquish.
Hamed Shamseldin, who ended the game with another triple double, played the role of distributor in the opening half of play, dishing out seven assists to go with his eight first half rebounds. He went into attack mode in the second frame, scoring 17 of his eventual 23 points. The senior ended the game with 23 points, 11 assists and 11 boards, his second triple-double of the young season.
Where Nelson left off in the first half,
Dwayne Daniel picked up in the second, knocking down all three of his three point attempts.
Tyler Collins also had a big half, contributing 11 points including a few acrobatic layups that saw him weave through multiple defenders on his way to the rack.

Overall, the Green and Gold shot the ball 58% from the field, including 52.4% from long range. Where they separated themselves however was in the paint, outscoring Whittier 56-32 down low.
