NEW PALTZ, N.Y- The College of Brockport women's basketball team fell in State University of New York Athletic Conference play (SUNYAC) play to SUNY New Paltz on Friday night by a score of 76-52.

With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 7-15 and 6-9 in SUNYAC play, while New Paltz improves to 15-7 and 12-4 in league action.

The first quarter was back and forth, with back-to-back baskets by
Lindsay Johnson and
Hannah Rehbaum giving the Golden Eagles a 6-4 lead with just under four minutes gone by. New Paltz ended the frame on a 5-0 run holding Brockport scoreless for the last 3:11 and taking a 16-11 lead in the process.

Early in the second period the Green and Gold used a 4-0 run to cut the Hawks lead to 18-15. Rehbaum converted a layup, followed by a nice drive by
Faith Welch. At the five-minute mark Rehbaum completed a three-point play making the deficit just four. New Paltz responded by closing the stanza on a 14-5 run, taking a 36-23 lead into the locker room.

Rehbaum led the way for Brockport scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor at the break, while Welch chipped in six points and four boards. The Golden Eagles struggled to stifle the Hawks shooting, with New Paltz posting 54.5 percent from long range connecting on six triples in the opening half.

The Green and Gold squad saw New Paltz open the second half with an 11-4 run to push their lead to 47-27. Welch responded by connecting on Brockport's first three point basket of the contest, but the Hawks outscored the Golden Eagles 26-13 in the third frame of play taking a 62-36 lead into the final quarter of action.

With two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles embarked on a 7-0 run, featuring layup's from
Olivia LeBaron, and
Brianna Neeley and a three-point basket from LeBaron making the score 74-49 in favor of New Paltz. The Golden Eagles couldn't overcome the Hawks, as they ultimatley fell, 76-52.

Rehbaum paced the Golden Eagles scoring 18 points, on 7-for-10 shooting and pulled down three rebounds. Welch chipped in with nine points, three rebounds and dished out three assists.
Bailey Pratt scored six points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, and LeBaron added six points and three rebounds. Brockport scored 28 points in the paint compared to only 14 for the Hawks.

Brockport will be back in action in their final regular season road contest of the year, as the Golden Eagles take on Oneonta on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 4 p.m.
