BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport men's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season on Monday in decisive fashion, setting a new mark of scoring in the series against Keuka College, downing the Wolves 18-7.
The Golden Eagles improve to 1-2 on the young season while the Wolves fall to 2-1 in 2017.
Brockport saw their counterparts open the contest strong, taking an early 4-1 lead after the first period. The lone Golden Eagle goal came from the stick of
Jake Giudice at the 6:06 mark.
The second frame was all Green and Gold, as head coach
Ben Wineburg's squad rattled off five straight to end the half and take the lead.

Mark Robinson,
Gabriel Coppola and
Brendan Fitzgerald all found the back of the cage, to post the 6-4 advantage heading into the break.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles continued their strong play, posting 12 goals. In the third quarter, Brockport posted a 6-3 scoring advantage, with three goals from Giudice, and Recor,
Liam Cannon and Robinson each working in scores of their own for the 12-7 lead.
The Green and Gold shut out their counterparts in the fourth quarter, scoring six unanswered goals.
Colton Oliver worked into the scoring column with a pair of goals, while Coppola added a pair himself. Fitzgerald and Giudice each added insurance goals, as Brockport cemented the 18-7 win.
Giudice led the Brockport offense with five goals and a pair of ground balls. Coppola added a hat trick with three goals and two GB's, while Record, Oliver, Fitzgerald and Robinson each recorded a pair of scores. Seven different Golden Eagles accounted for assists on the day.
On the defensive end,
Steven Gurin had a huge day, wracking up seven caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Colin Blind snagged five CT's and seven ground balls while
Zach Cook netted 12 ground balls, and went 15-for-19 in the face off circle.
Conor Nowak saw all 60 minutes of action in goal for the Green and Gold, where he picked up his first win of the season and made 10 saves.
As a team, Brockport fired off 57 shots to just 24 Keuka looks, while 33 of the Green and Gold's shots were on target. Brockport had the edge in ground balls (45-23), face off's (20-8) and forced 26 Keuka turnovers.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, March 16, when they take on St. John Fisher College at 1 p.m. The game, due to unforeseen weather challenges has been moved to the Pinnacle Athletics Campus, in Victor, N.Y.
