SALEM, V.A. – The College at Brockport women's soccer team won in an exciting overtime finish against Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-1. The Golden Eagles improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Maroons fall to 1-1.
 
After a scoreless first half, Roanoke struck first in the 55th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Green and Gold. With less than five minutes to go in the game, Maddie Siclare gathered a bad clear from the Maroons and capitalized on the opportunity tying up the game up at 1-1. Neither teams were unable to convert in the first overtime forcing a second one.
 
The second overtime started with Roanoke firing off two quick shots that were turned aside. In the 103rd minute, the Golden Eagles were awarded a free kick opportunity outside the 18-yard box. Siclare capitalized on the chance, giving the Green and Gold their first win on the season.
 
"I'm really proud of our team's effort tonight," said head coach Mike Idland. "We showed a lot of growth in a short period of time, and I'm excited to see where we can go together as the season progresses."
 
Molly Graves had a strong day in net finishing the game with three saves, with the most important one coming in the second overtime to keep the Green and Gold alive.
 
The Brockport women's soccer team will travel back home where they'll play St. John Fisher College next Thursday September 7th at 4:30 p.m.
