BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport volleyball team won in straight sets at Robert Wesleyan College Tuesday evening, 3-0. The Golden Eagles improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Redhawks fall to 0-5 on the year.
 
In the first set, both teams kept the score close, trading points throughout the game. A pair of mid-game runs helped push the Green and Gold to the a 25-21 win over the Redhawks.
 
In the second set, Brockport jumped out to an early lead claiming the first four points of the match. Roberts kept the game close, and with a mid-game run, pulled to within one with a score of 14-13. Brockport answered with a pair of three point runs to give the Golden Eagles a 24-16 advantage, which led to a 25-19 win.
 
The Golden Eagles took the final match in demanding fashion, winning by a score of 25-15. DeAnna Ortiz-Whittemore got the match started with back-to-back kills to help give Brockport a 5-0 lead. After a Redhawk service error, Brockport strung together a seven-point run to help widen the gap to 15-5. The Golden Eagles easily closed out the third set to claim victory over Robert Wesleyan.
 
Brockport was led offensively by Laiken Fox who accounted for 10 kills and Brianna Richardson who finished with seven and a .500 percent hitting clip. Jamie Schlesinger paced the offensive, dishing out 30 assists on the night. Maddy Taylor did work on defense, picking up 12 digs and five aces.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action when they attend the Union College Invitational Tournament, Sept. 8 and 9. Brockport will face off against Skidmore College, Stevens Institute of Technology, Union and Middlebury College over the two-day event.
