Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brockport Defeats Bengals 82-75 for Fifth Straight Victory

BUFFALO, N.Y.— The College at Brockport men's basketball team continue to succeed as they defeated Buffalo State Saturday night for their seventh State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win. The victory is the Golden Eagles fifth straight and eight in nine games.

The victory moves Brockport to 12-3 on the season with a 7-1 record in SUNYAC play. The Bengals drop to a 6-9 record and 2-7 in conference mark.

Both teams played closely with one-another in the first five minutes of the game, with neither no one able to pull away. That changed when a pair of made free throws by Tyler Collins and Michael O'Hara combined with a made jump shot by Dwayne Daniel gave the Green and Gold a 16-9 lead. After a pair of layups by the Bengals, O'Hara made a layup followed by five straight points by Hamed Shamseldin gave the team a double-digit advantage. The largest lead came after a Shamseldin three with just over six minutes left, it put Brockport on top of the Bengals 36-20. Buffalo St. chipped away at the deficit before half-time, but the Golden Eagles remained in control 43-36 heading into the break.

The Golden Eagles extended the lead to double digits after a David Clark three put the score at 50-39 in the first two minutes. The Bengals were a resilient unit, and battled back within two points multiple times in the second half, including at the 2:24 mark where the score was 75-73. Clark, once again, showed off his range with a three-pointer to bring the lead back to five for Brockport, and the game was wrapped up after a layup by Collins and two made free throws by Daniel.

Shamseldin led the team with 26 points and also dished out seven assists. Justin Summers continues his impressive year by recording his seventh double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. O'Hara chipped in 14 points off the bench and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Green and Gold are back in action Friday, Jan. 19 when they travel to SUNY Potsdam for a 7:30 SUNYAC matchup.
