BROCKPORT N.Y.- The College at Brockport women's soccer team fell to Geneseo Saturday afternoon, by a score of 1-0. With the loss, Brockport moves to a 6-9 overall record and 2-5 in conference, while the Knights advance to 10-2-1 overall and 7-0.
Â
The first half saw an aggressive Geneseo offense—Brockport's goalkeeper Kimberly Lubanksi, came up with two big saves early in the half to keep the score tied at nil. The Golden Eagles would answer with an opportunity of their own at the 10-minute mark, when
Sydnee Smith forced the Knights goalkeeper to make a save. The Knights would tally the only goal of the game at the 18th minute on a set play that beat Lubanski, giving Geneseo the lead, 1-0. Lubanski continued to be a bright spot as the half winded down, making 5 saves in the first 45.
Â
The second half brought more offensive action from both teams, Brockport registering six shots, three of which forced the Geneseo netminder to make a save. The two teams played back on forth, each team creating quality scoring opportunities. Lubanski continued to be a brick wall, making 3 more saves in the second half. At the 88th minute, it looked like
Bri Kovarik would tie the game up for the Green and Gold but the Geneseo goalie stood tall.
