BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport women's soccer team fell to Misericordia University Tuesday afternoon, by a score of 5-0. With the loss, Brockport moves to a 5-6 overall record, while the Cougars advance to 7-2-1 on the year.
Â
The first half saw a fast-paced Misericordia offense, outshooting the Brockport attackers 16-1 with seven shots on goal. Brockport's goalkeeper
Kimberly Lubanski made some huge saves early but would eventually let one in at the 17th-minute mark. The rain and wind picked up as the half progressed creating sloppy ball movement for both teams. Lubanski continued to be a bright spot for the Golden Eagles as the half winded down, making eight saves before the clock ran out on the first 45.
Â
The Cougars struck early in the second half, finding an opening in the Golden Eagles defense and extending their lead, 2-0. The Cougars offense struck again moments later on a cross through the box at the 55th minute, advancing the score to 3-0. Brockport made a goalie substitution midway through the half bringing in
Guliana Parisi, who made three heroic saves to start her entrance. The Cougars would eventually solve Parisi on a free kick at the 66th minute--the Brockport defenders would make a huge block, but the Misericordia forward followed up and found the back of the net, 4-0.
