NEW PALTZ, N.Y.- The College at Brockport women's soccer fell to SUNY New Paltz Friday afternoon, by a score of 1-0. With the loss, Brockport moves to a 5-7 overall record and 2-3 in conference play, while the Hawks fall to 2-9-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in conference.
Â
The Golden Eagles came out with a jump in their step-- the Green and Gold posted 12 scoring opportunities in the first half, eight of which forced the New Paltz goalkeeper to make a save. Though, the Hawks would be the team to strike first in this match, scoring at the 18-minute mark to take the lead, 1-0. The Golden Eagles would answer with a flurry of chances just minutes after the opposition's goal, but came up empty-handed. Brockport continued to pour on the pressure as the half expired,
Marissa Greiner and
Krista Statt leading the offensive onslaught with four shots apiece.
Â
The second half saw a more even playing field, both teams creating offensive opportunities throughout the 45 minutes. The Green and Gold continued to throw everything at the Hawks goalkeeper but couldn't find an opening. The early New Paltz goal would be enough to seal the deal for the Hawks.
Â
The Green and Gold are back in action Saturday, Oct. 6 when they travel to SUNY Oneonta for a 1 p.m. matchup.
