BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball team lost in a nail biter to Rochester Institute of Technology Tuesday night 61-56. The team falls to 2-2 on the season while the Tigers improve to 4-0.
The Golden Eagles dominated the first half of play on both ends of the court, holding the Tigers to 18 points and a 24% shooting percentage. The Green and Gold maintained a healthy lead through the first 20 minutes, never allowing the Tigers to take hold of the scoreboard.
Emily Nestler built on to her strong performance from the weekend, leading the Golden Eagles offensively in the first half with 12 points. Junior
Bailey Pratt found her groove against the Tigers, controlling the perimeter, nailing two three pointers and collecting a total eight points before the half.
Both Pratt and Nestler went on to lead the Golden Eagles, scoring 17 and 15 points respectively, with
Julianna Taylor trailing closely behind with eight points on the evening.
Kylee Rosbrook was a powerhouse under the basket for the Green and Gold, securing 10 rebounds and three blocks, along with Nestler's eight rebounds and three blocks, much of which allowed the team to maintain their lead through the first three quarters.
Brockport struggled to hold onto the ball, giving up 20 turnovers which allowed the Tigers to close the gap picking up 17 points off turnovers and 23 fast break points. The game came down to the final two minutes, both teams fighting to secure the win. Ultimately the Tigers momentum in the final moments pushed them just past the Golden Eagles to maintain their undefeated record.
The Golden Eagles are back in action after the holiday where they will take on William Smith on the road Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
