ERIE, PA.—The College at Brockport wrestling team traveled to Pennsylvania State Behrend on Saturday for their second dual in three days. The unit did not show much rust as they won the first six matches of the day and eight of the ten matches overall. The 41-9 victory, pushed the Golden Eagles to a 1-1 record on the season.
The day started off with a 125-weight class win by
Neiko Scarano that came in the form of a 7-6 decision.
Elijah Sims picked up a win for the Green and Gold due to a forfeit by the opposition, but it put the Green and Gold up 9-0. Donald McCoy continued the momentum in the 141- weight class bout, as he pinned his opponent at 6:04 for the third straight Brockport victory.
Ryan Snow dominated in the 149-weight class, recording a 17-2, technical fall victory over the Penn State wrestler.
Jordan Kayes picked up the fifth straight victory for the Golden Eagles with a 7-0 decision. In the 165- weight class,
Jackson Bell made quick work of his competition, need 00:20 to secure a pin and the teams sixth straight win.
After back-to-back losses,
Joe Yanis helped put the team in the win's column with a victory in the 197- weight class matchup. Yanis pinned his opponent in just 00:21 to push the Brockport lead to 35-9. The final bout if the day was the heavyweight match, which ended in a
Calik Kennedy win due to a medical default by the opposition.
The Golden Eagles will take about a month off for winter break, and will compete in Bradford, PA against the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford at 1 p.m. and Thiel College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12.
