Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Brockport Wins Revenge Game Against SUNY Cortland, 66-53

CORTLAND, N.Y.—The College at Brockport men's basketball team finished their regular season with a big win over SUNY Cortland, 66-53. The victory clinches the number two seed and first round bye for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles head into the post-season with an overall record of 19-6 and State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) mark of 14-4. The Red Dragons finish the season with a record of 18-7 and 13-5 in conference games.

Brockport fell behind early in the first half and spent most of the time in a deficit, but they never let the game get out of hand. Timely buckets by Justin Summers, Hamed Shamseldin and clutch free-throw makes by Michael O'Hara kept the game within three-points on multiple occasions. At the end of the first half, back-to-back made threes by Shamseldin and Tyler Collins gave the Green and Gold a 33-32 lead heading into the break.

The Golden Eagles came out of the gate on fire to start the second frame, using buckets by David Clark, Summers and Shamseldin to open up a 42-32 lead and forcing a Cortland timeout. From that moment on, Brockport held a clear advantage over the opposition and pushing their lead to as many as 14 points at the 08:04 mark.

Summers tallied 22 points on 11-of-18 shooting and snatched seven rebounds. Shamseldin played an all-around game scoring 20 points, grabbing five rebounds and dished out seven assists. O'Hara was a monster on the boards, corralling 14 rebounds and finishing one-point shy of a double-double.

Brockport earned themselves a first round by and will travel to Plattsburgh State Friday, Feb. 23rd.
