GENESEO, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's basketball team had their five game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, falling to SUNY Geneseo 82-56. The team falls to 10-11 on the season (8-6 conference), while the Golden Knights improve to 19-2 (14-0).
Brockport still sits in fifth place in the SUNYAC Playoff standings, with the chance to clinch another playoff berth with a pair of wins next weekend.
Lindsay Johnson led the Golden Eagles in scoring in this outing, continuing her outstanding senior campaign with 18 points to go with her seven rebounds and three assists.
Emily Nestler was right on her heels with 16 points of her own, while the junior also helped on the defensive side, recording both a steal and a block in the game.
Julianna Taylor scored eight points for the Green and Gold in the game while also grabbing three boards and dishing out a pair of assists.
Brianna Neeley was the most efficient from the field, going three-for-five en route to six points and two boards.
Brockport forced 15 turnovers as a team in the game, scoring points on nearly half of those. Seven of those turnovers came on steals, two of which came from Johnson. Brockport shot 33% from the field, but the Geneseo shooters were lights out in the game, shooting at over a 50% clip over the course of the game.
Brockport will host Oneonta at 5:30 p.m. on Friday before their senior day contest against New Paltz at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
