CORTLAND, N.Y. – In the semi-finals of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) tournament, the No. 3 seed College at Brockport pushed past the No. 2 seed SUNY Geneseo, winning by a final score of 16-8.
The Golden Eagles move to 9-8 in 2018, where the Knights end their season with a 13-4 record.
Brockport started slow out of the gate, as the Knights took an early 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles responded with a six-goal run over eight minutes of play to hold a 6-1 advantage.
Chloe Kurst started the scoring on a quick catch-and-shoot goal from
Sara Grapevine to tie the game up 1-1.
Heather Conklin was the next to cash-in as she split two defenders and ripped top corner, followed by
Jade Williams scoring on a free position shot. Conklin, Grapevine, and
Taylor Thomas scored the final three goals of the run take a commanding lead over the Knights. The Green and Gold defense also stepped up causing Geneseo to turn the ball over six times throughout the half. Goalie
Sarah Brown was unstoppable in net as she turned away 12 shots to keep the Knights off the score board. Brockport scored added five more goals to end the half, while allowing none from Geneseo.
Andrea Zlinsky, Thomas, Grapevine, Williams, and
Dana Kiselica all scored, as the Golden Eagles held a large 11-2 advantage heading into halftime.
Brockport stayed hot in the second half scoring a pair of goals in the first three minutes of play to post a 13-2 lead. The Green and Gold defense locked down holding the knights to four shots.
Jillian Babinsky and
Nikki Nolan caused trouble for the Geneseo offense as they each were responsible for a causing one of their turnovers. The Golden Eagles started to slip midway through the second half as the Knights scored six goals to chip away at the lead, 15-8. Thomas helped seal the deal, when she scored with .24 seconds left to go in the game to give Brockport a 16-8 victory.

Sarah Brown had a phenomenal day in between the pipes played all 60-minutes and racking up an impressive 19 saves on the day.
The offense was led by Conklin who had three goals and five assists, while Thomas notched three as well. Zlinsky, Grapevine, Kiselica, and Williams all finished with two goals apiece.
The Brockport women's lacrosse team is back in action tomorrow May 5 for the SUNYAC Championships where they face the No. 1 seed SUNY Cortland, with the time set to kick off at 12:30 p.m.
