Golden Eagles Offense Shines In Victory

BROCKPORT, N.Y.— The College at Brockport women's soccer team got back to their winning ways Saturday afternoon after a commanding win over D'youville College, by a score of 5-0. With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to a record of 3-3 while the Spartans fall to 0-7.

The first half saw a recharged Brockport offense, the Green and Gold forwards tested the Spartans goalie often in the first 20'. At the 12th minute, Krista Statt forced D'youvilles goalkeeper to make a save on a shot from in close. While the Brockport offense was hot, it wasn't until a foul in the box granted a penalty kick to Maddie Sinclair, who netted her second of the season and put the Golden Eagles in the lead, 1-0.  The Green and Gold would continue to pour on the offense, at 37:39 of the half Myriah Saar found the rebound off a shot from Sinclair, scoring her second of the year, sending Brockport into the half up 2-0.

The next 45 minutes would be all Brockport, after being held to one goal or less in each of their last three contest, the Golden Eagles would open the floodgates. It all started at the 10- minute mark of the second half when Marissa Greiner let one rip from outside the box, beating the Spartans goaltender for her first in the Green and Gold. The Brockport offense peppered the D'youville net, at 70th minute Statt would put home her second of the season off a feed from junior captain, Molly Zientek. Brockport would cap the games scoring with a bomb from outside the box by sophomore Emma Nevers; her first at the collegiate level. The Brockport Defense gave D'youville all they could handle, holding the Spartans to three shots on the game and helping Brockport's goalkeeper, Kimberly Lubanski to her fourth shutout of the 2018 campaign.

" I thought we continued to play really well today," said head coach Mike Idland "The players really brought the final third of the field to life."

The Golden Eagles will get a nice break as they are back in action Friday, Sept. 21st against the Plattsburgh State Cardinals.
