GENESEO, N.Y.- The College at Brockport field hockey team suffered a tough 5-0 loss to SUNY Geneseo Wednesday afternoon, putting them at 0-2 in the SUNYAC and 2-6 on the season.
The Knights (5-3) possessed the ball for most of the first half and forced the Golden Eagles to sharpen their defensive effort in order to gain some offense of their own. The Knights jumped out to an early lead scoring within the first minute. Geneseo kept up the pressure for most of the half, but senior
Kelsey Devine gave Brockport a burst of defensive energy after blocking a penalty shot on the goal line with her shins. The Golden Eagles showed promise with the breakup of an odd-man rush by
Christina Conkling before the Knights followed with another goal making it 3-0 going into halftime.
After making some impressive kick saves on seven shots faced, goalie Adriana Dedie was replaced by freshman
Cara Fox for the start of the second half. Brockport had a combined 13 saves but gave up 16 penalty corners which made all the difference in the final score. Forward
Katelynn Mello would collect the only offensive stat of the night with a solo shot in the first half.
The Golden Eagles bring their efforts back home Saturday as they look to face Wells College at 12 p.m.
