Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Brockport Falls to Fredonia, 3-2

BROCKPORT, N.Y.- The College at Brockport women's soccer team fell to SUNY Fredonia Friday afternoon, by a score of 3-2. With the loss, Brockport moves to a 4-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in SUNYAC play, while the Blue Devils fall to 5-5 on the year and 3-0 in league play.

The Golden Eagles came out flying in this SUNYAC matchup-- It only took six minutes of play before Brockport found the back of the net off a deep shot from Marissa Greiner, her second of the 2018 campaign. The Green and Gold looked like they would tally another goal just minutes later when Maddie Siclair, found Bri Kovarik in the box, who let a shot fly just wide of the net. The Blue Devils would answer back at the 19-minute mark, after a volley play that ended in the Brockport net, tying the score at one goal apiece. Brockport looked like they'd take back the lead after Siclair broke through two defenders and got a shot off, but Fredonia's goalkeeper stood tall. The Golden Eagles continued to pressure the Blue Devils defense as the half moved forward, then at the 40th minute the Green and Gold struck again, when Greiner buried her second goal of the night with a bomb from outside the 18', putting Brockport in the lead heading into the half.

Fredonia came out swinging in the 2nd half, scoring the tying goal just a minute and a half into the second frame. The Fredonia offense didn't stop there, when five minutes later the Blue Devils found the back of the net after a deep ball beat Lubanski, putting Fredonia in the lead, 3-2. The Golden Eagles would play from behind the remainder of the half but continued to bring the offensive pressure. Krista Statt looked like she would have a go at the 70th minute, but was denied by the Blue Devil goalkeeper.

The Golden Eagles out chanced the Blue Devils 19-4 in this matchup but the pair of early second half goals proved to be too much for the Green and Gold to come back from.

The Green and Gold are back in action Saturday, Sept. 29 when they host to Buffalo State for their senior-day matchup at 1 p.m.
