The Cardinals came out firing early in this one, registering three shots in the first ten minutes. Brockport would quickly add a few shots of their own. Maddie Siclair rocketed one on net in the 34th minute but the Cardinals goalkeeper stood tough. The defensive battle continued throughout the first 45, keeping the score tied at zero going in the half.

The second half began much like the first for the Golden Eagles, having to play back in their end early on. The game was back and forth as the half continued. That was until the 80th minute, when a Cardinal forward found an opening in the Golden Eagle defense, netting the first goal of the night and sealing the game for the cardinals, 1-0.

"Fisher played well and in the end it comes down to a big player making a big time play," Said head coach Mike Idland, " We needed to be a little more thoughtful in how we approached the game, especially in the second half."

The women's soccer team will be back in action on Sept. 8, for a non-conference game at Houghton College.
