Fredonia, NY – The College at Brockport women's soccer team improved to 8-5-1 overall and 4-2 in conference play with a 3-2 win over Fredonia.
Sydnee Smith had a day, scoring twice for the Golden Eagles as they have now won two in a row.
For the second straight match Brockport found the back of the net in the first five minutes of play, as Smith gave the team a 1-0 lead just 4:47 into the game. Teammate
Camryn Pettit was credited with the assist. The Blue Devils would answer however, notching two scores before halftime to own a 2-1 advantage at the mid-game break.
Kiley Longin would score early in the second half to tie the score up at 2-2, assisted by
Franchesca Polcaro. Longin has now scored four goals in the last four games. With less than 10 minutes left in regulation
Sydnee Smith would fire a shot past the Fredonia goalkeeper once again to net the game winner.
Ellen Walpole came up with the assist, as Brockport defeated the Blue Devils 3-2 on the road.
The Green and Gold outshot Fredonia 19-11 in the match, and drew eight more corner kick opportunities.
Kayla Usborne got the start in net once again, finishing with five saves in the win.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, October 18
th for another SUNYAC battle against Oneonta. The match will be played at home on A. Parker Huntley Jr. Field, beginning at 3 pm.
